The Vision
Our iKinder work began in 2010 with Dr. Pamela Redmond of Touro University California who is a member of the NapaLearns Board of Directors. Teachers in her Educational Technology and Innovative Learning master's degree programs at Touro University California, were the inspiration for the site. Several of the iKinder teachers featured herein received grants from NapaLearns to complete the master's program with a requirement to study a local problem, conduct action research and provide a solution to that problem. To serve the Napa County school districts, NapaLearns, and the Napa County Office of Education this site was launched to support kinder teachers across the county with using iPads in their early literacy curricula. Kim Floyd of Napa Valley USD, Martha McCoy & Pam Rubel from Calistoga JUSD were part of this innovative team.
iKinder is part of a vision for changing the future of education for all students by leveraging technology to facilitate and enable students and teachers to learn and explore. Ultimately, our hope is to break down access barriers to resources and materials, close achievement gaps, and provide equal learning opportunities for student success.
